At the end of last year I was really blessed by a podcast from Mosaic LA. The talk was highlights that we as the Church should be changing our cultures and bring the culture of heaven. The one thing that i walked away from the talk was this….
Churches often replace the experience of planing events and the excitement that comes from it with the real thing. They never get to the place they want to be because the experience of dreaming and talking about stuff seems to be enough for them.
Once I heard that it blew me away. The Church (when i say that im talking about you and me) needs to stop having planning session, school of this and that and actually get out there and get it done. Now obviously there needs to be some level of planning and training but we should never loose focus of what we want to achieve.
For me this has been something that I want to carry with me for the rest of my life, mainly because I don’t want to be a person that talks about things but never sees those things happen. The main reason I came to Colombia was to see people set free from the sex industry and over the last year there has been an element of talking about it and its partly been because my Spanish hasn’t really been good enough to be working into some of the sex industry and also my time was being taken up by other things and project but now I believe I need to be doing what God has called me too and start seeing people set free.
The title of this post is “we need movers and a lot of shakers” and I couldn’t think of anything else that is more right for now. We need people who will move off there pews and chairs and and out of their confort zone and do what God has called them to do. If we look in our local, national and global papers we will all see stories of people, communities and even countries who need our help.
Let us all not loose focus of why we are here, and let us all realise we have a part in play in the communities around us.
Wow. It's Quiet Here...
