Blast from the past: 50 Ways to Become the Answer to Our Prayers

This is something i stumbled on when visting http://www.thesimpleway.org/

1-Fast for the 2 billion people who live on less than a dollar a day.
2-Contact your local crisis pregnancy center and invite a pregnant woman to live with your family.
3-Ask your pastor if someone on your church’s sick list would like a visit.
4-Join an open AA meeting and befriend someone there.
5-Adopt a child. Continue Reading…

Waiting and living

Over the last few weeks a lot of things have changed for me. I’ve got married to an amazing Colombian woman, who I still can’t believe God gave me someone as amazing as she. We signed the contracts on our new apartment. I currently find myself sat in our empty living room with just a single sofa bed which i’m sat on while waiting for the guys to come and install the internet etc. So I thought now would be a perfect time to sit down and share with you what Gods really been speaking to me over the last couple weeks.

lent recap

I know I made a video and many blogs stating that I would be blogging every day i’m following the ‘Lent Calendar’ from Mars Hill but due to getting married, moving house, getting visa etc etc. Its not been possible.

I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE CALENDAR!!!!

Its been a good 5 days or so since I blogged about the Calendar and while I’ve been doing the calendar I actually felt pretty bad to start with. “Why” I hear you asking. The answer would be because some of the stuff on the calendar I couldn’t really do due to culture things or practical things such as “clear the snow of someone’s driveway”. Here in Colombia there is no snow (not the snow you’d think any way) which obviously makes this one slightly harder to within the first few days I decided to do the task for the day if It was possible and if not do something which has a similar focus.

Lent Day 1 – Ash Cross

Its day one of lent and for the first time in my life I’ve seen a bunch of people walking around the city with black marks on their heads. This has been a very weird thing for me having grown up in a town and never experienced this before. When I got my hands on the calendar I was thinking to myself I would look stupid and would be persecuted for having it (I’d feel more holy if I was).

I was sat on a bus heading into the city when I saw many people with these crosses on their heads and it really got me thinking about the power of the cross. For some people their response will be its just a silly cross what good will it do, but today I was reminded what the cross means.

The cross is the centre of our faith. Jesus died on the cross for us which is the biggest act of love that we will ever experience.

Today God really spoke to me about moving in love. Everything I do should have love at the centre of my action. Its a powerful thought. Lets all try and live our life’s with love at the core.

Come back tomorrow for day 2

Tomorrow is the start of Lent

Tomorrow is the start of Lent. I woke up this morning a took a few minutes to read my friends blog.  he spoke about his plan for lent and i was very surprised to think its the start of lent tomorrow and i had nothing planned. So here is my plan for this years lent.I will be following a long with Mars Hills lent plan. immediately i wont be giving up things but on each day i will have to do something that will benefit the people around me and would draw me closer to God.  I will blog every day with my experiences of the task some of the tasks will be really fun, but some will be very challenging. I plan to be very honest with my blogs (as i do anyway)

We need movers and a lot of Shakers!!!

At the end of last year I was really blessed by a podcast from Mosaic LA. The talk was highlights that we as the Church should be changing our cultures and bring the culture of heaven. The one thing that i walked away from the talk was this….

Churches often replace the experience of planing events and the excitement that comes from it with the real thing. They never get to the place they want to be because the experience of dreaming and talking about stuff seems to be enough for them. Continue Reading…

Guest Post on Jonjolly.com

Over the last 10 years I’ve worked with Jon in many ways, in fact my first experience of Jon was when I volunteered at a playscheme when I was 14! 10 years on I’ve been really blessed to have worked alongside him. Over the years I’ve been involved in playschemes, church groups, large events like Spring Harvest, young carers support groups, and the most recent was an internship with Arun Community Church which was in partnership with The Rank Foundation.
